Hi Grant! The Metz is a good flash, with 2 areas where it cant fully compete with the SB-700: its more complicated to use, and the AF assist light is a simpler design. On the other side the cost is lower and the power output a bit higher. If money is no factor, Id recommend the Nikon, but the Metz provides the better vaell-per-Doular probably. Frank
